Submission Guidelines

THE DEADLINE FOR FALL 2009 SUBMISSIONS TO THE BLACK & WHITE ANNUAL EDITION IS DECEMBER 1st, 2009!

We do accept previously published material as long as all previous publications are noted. We also accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know as soon as possible if your work is accepted elsewhere.

Contributors do not have to attend or otherwise be affiliated with Western Connecticut State University to submit work to Black & White. Faculty members are welcome to submit material.

ANNUAL PUBLICATION

For the Annual Publication, the maximum word count is 3,500 words, though we have no minimum word count.

We impose no restrictions on format or content for submissions to Black & White, though the Annual Publication is limited to material that can be represented on a 6x9" page. Some examples of what we accept include: prose, poetry, prose-poetry, plays, flash fiction, haiku, one-line stories, digital artwork, graphic design, photography, paintings, 2D and 3D work, illustration, sculpture, and pop art.

ELECTRONIC EDITION

We impose no restrictions on format or content for submissions to Black & White's Electronic Edition, though the Electronic Edition is limited to material that can be represented in an electronic format on the Internet. Besides what was mentioned in the Annual Publication's section, for the Electronic Edition, we can also accept: audio, video, software-art.

Audio submissions, not limited to music, can be considered individually by track or as a complete album. This includes, but is not limited to: spoken word, audio collage, slam poetry, interviews, and lectures.

There is neither a minimum nor a maximum word count for the Electronic Edition.

WEEKLY EDITION

We do not accept submissions to the Weekly Edition from non-staff members.
